Directed by Deniece Law, Light Up is a documentary feature detailing the struggle of four people with disabilities against their personal restraints and how their different journeys have been positively affected by their association with the Hand in Hand Capable Theatre. Set up by The Nonsensemakers, an independent professional Hong Kong drama company, this subsidiary troupe was established in 2013 with the aim of fostering mutual understanding among people with different disabilities.


Joanna and King are facing darkness as they are gradually losing their eyesight. Baobao has been hearing-impaired since birth, cannot communicate with others and her greatest desire is to speak and express herself. Hazel has cerebral palsy, is unable to walk and faces a life of extreme pain. Coping with such difficulties is an immense strain however Joanna, King, Baobao and Hazel rediscover their passion for life when they embark on a journey to the theatre stage and in the process they make the impossible possible.
