In a rural village on the North China Plain, Chaoying (Xu) has sold the cattle he’s raised in order to renovate a house. Chaoying’s friends Zhanyi (Zhang) and Shuhe (Su) come to assist him with the renovation but soon after Shuhe is hit by a car and is hospitalised in a coma.  Desperate to track down the driver who injured their dear friend, Chaoying and Zhanyi transform themselves into the “Plains Detectives” and embark on a crazy journey across the Chinese countryside.
