Synopsis:

Talented filmmaker Yuya Ishii shot to fame with The Great Passage which resulted him in becoming the youngest-ever winner of the Best Director prize at the 2013 Japanese Academy Awards. Almost a Miracle, in which Ishii introduces a wholly new type of protagonist who is both extremely ordinary and universally lovable, stars 17-year-old Kanata Hosoda (Detective Mitarai’s Casebook: The Clockwork Current) and Nagisa Sekimizu (Kaiji Final Game).

Machida (Hosada) is an unlikely lead character. He’s dull, wears glasses and has no distinguishing features whatsoever. His only talent is his ability to love everyone and love them unconditionally. However, as Machida gets to know his classmate Inohara (Sekimizu), who says she hates people, he is forced to confront an emotion growing within himself that he has never felt before. Suddenly, a series of unexpected events is set in motion, with unpredictable consequences, and before long Machida pulls more and more people into his orbit.
