Former Korean Air Force interpreter Jason Kim began making films in his spare time before achieving major success with his 2017 action-comedy Midnight Runners. In The Divine Fury he tackles the religious phenomenon of stigmata where scars and pains appear in the same places as the crucifixion wounds of Jesus. The slick action horror film stars Park Seo-jun (Chronicles of Evil, Midnight Runners), acting legend Ahn Sung-ki (Mandala, Unbowed) and Woo Do-hwan (Master, Operation Chromite).

Yong-hu (Park) is a world champion martial artist who believes in no God – only himself. However, he suddenly develops stigmata on his palms. Visiting a church in the hope of healing the condition he ends up saving Father Ahn (Ahn) who has fallen into danger while performing an exorcism. Learning of the power of stigmata, Yong-hu accepts his new calling and begins helping Ahn save those possessed by demons. Soon after, Yong-hu is faced with a showdown with the evil Jisin (Woo), a man who appears to ensnare his victims with the power of the devil.
