Based on Laksmi Pamuntjak’s 2014 The Bird Woman’s Palate, this snappy, crowd-pleasing Indonesian road movie focuses on a curious mix of food and disease. Aruna & Her Palate is directed by the talented and prodigious Edwin (Blind Pig Who Wants to Fly, Postcards from the Zoo) and stars Dian Sastrowadoyo (Whispering Sands), Oka Antara (Killers), Hannah Al Rashid (The Night Comes For Us) and Nicholas Saputra (Interchange).

Aruna (Sastrowadoyo) is an epidemiologist who has been sent to investigate outbreaks of Avian Flu in different regions of Indonesia. Tagging along with her are her witty best friends Bono (Saputra) and Nad (Al Rashid) who make her take culinary detours. With each new region they try out various dishes and talk about life. Things then get spicy when Aruna runs into a secret crush called Farish (Antara). And so, while investigating the disease and relishing delicious dishes, the secret behind the Avian Flu outbreaks is discovered.
