Love Battle

Thai director Wirat Hengkongdee made a mark with his charming 2012 comedy-drama Super Salaryman which explored the lives of Bangkok’s white-collar workers. Now he turns to the topic of love and insurance and if it’s possible to calculate an expiry date for romance. Based on a South Korean screenplay, this hilarious romcom stars former boy band member-turned-actor Prama Imanotai (Driver, Gas Station) and rising star Esther Supreeleela (You’re My Destiny, App Love).

After being hurtfully betrayed by his girlfriend, actuary Tan (Imanotai) creates a new insurance policy called “Love Insurance”.  The policy guarantees holders 100 per cent return of payment with 30 per cent interest as long as the holder does not break up with their partner for two years after signing. However, his employer has reservations about the policy and challenges him to provide proof that supports his proposal. And so Jeed (Supreeleela), a former matchmaker, joins Tan to collect the statistics but – unlike Tan – she believes that love simply cannot be measured.
