From the studio that brought you Train to Busan, Rampant is a period action thriller that reunites director Kim Sung-hoon with his leading man Hyun Bin from the smash hit Confidential Assignment.  Slick and polished, this ambitious production dominated the box office on its opening, surpassing one million moviegoers in just 4 days.

Prince Lee Chung (Hyun) returns to his homeland of Joseon to fulfil the last wishes of his recently deceased brother Lee Young. Lee Chung, however is an irresponsible, womanising rascal and performing royal duties ranks very low on his list of things to do. The kingdom meanwhile is under threat. Lee’s father, King Lee Jo, is facing a civil uprising as well as a conspiracy orchestrated by ministers and led by the scheming Kim Ja-joon (Jang).
All these challenges however pale into insignificance after the arrival of the plague. Disease spreads quickly and those who succumb to illness rise as “demons” and develop a monstrous lust for blood. Before long, swarms of beasts sweep the land and with the King’s power diminished, the young prince must try to unite the nation in order to fight their threat.
