| Synopsis: | One of the most anticipated films of the year, Villain is a moving drama which chronicles the tragic love story between a troubled man and a pure hearted woman. In addition to the movie’s success at the box office, Eri Fukatsu’s poignant performance secured her Best Actress award at the recent 2010 Montreal World Film Festival. Construction worker Yuichi Shimizu (Satoshi Tsumabuki) has lived his entire life in a dreary fishing village. With no friends or girlfriend, he spends his days working and looking after his grandparents, and has no enjoyment in life other than his car. Meanwhile, Mitsuyo Magome (Eri Fukatsu), also lives a monotonous existence, mired in the repetitive grind of working in a men’s clothing store. When the two lonely souls meet through an online dating site, they immediately fall in love. But Yuichi has a secret: he recently murdered a young woman. Though Yuichi tries to turn himself in, Mitsuyo stops him. Having each discovered the joy of loving someone for the first time in their lives, the pair go on the run. As the desperate characters reach rock bottom and struggle between good and evil, a new question emerges: who is the true ‘villain’? |
