Synopsis:

Marking the 100th anniversary of Japan’s iconic mystery writer Seicho Matsumoto’s birth, this powerful, visually rich remake of the 1965 classic conveys the dramatic story of one man’s disappearance, all cleverly told through the eyes of his new wife in search of her missing husband.

It’s 1957 – post war Japan.  Seven days after his arranged marriage, Kenichi Uhara (Hidetoshi Nishijima) leaves his wife Teiko (Ryoko Hirosue) for a brief business trip to Kanazawa, northern Japan.

When Kenichi does not return, Teiko becomes frantic. Hardly knowing her husband or where he might be, she heads to Kanazawa where she meets Sachiko Murota (Miki Nakatani) and Hisako Tanuma (Tae Kimura), women who appear to be from her husband’s past.

As the shocking truth of Kenichi’s former life is slowly unveiled, Teiko’s investigations begin to pose a serious threat - a threat with unimaginable consequences.....
